On my way home one day

I stopped to watch a Little League base ball game that was being played in a park near my home. As I sat down behind the bench on the first-base line, I asked one of the boys what the score was 'We're behind 14 to nothing,' he answered with a smile.

'Really,' I said. 'I have to say you don't look very discouraged.'

'Discouraged?', the boy asked with a puzzled look on his face....

As the coach of the 0-12 Little League Phillies I just loved this story!

Writing in Phillie Orange...we never won but we sure put a scare in the top team and almost beat them 2-1 in the last game of the year. Those kids on the other team were no longer laughing at us and even came over to shake the hands of my kids saying they were scared for a while.

We also knew we were not so good so we were all the best dressed little league team with creases in our pants and lining up for all the cut off throws.

We never won but we sure learned the game of baseball and had fun playing. Everyone on our team played...even the ones who could not hit or catch.
